Luke 3: 15-17, 21-22
Baptism of Our Lord

Pastor's sermon is based upon the gospel lesson from Luke 3:15-127, 21-22. We readers of Luke’s gospel are fortunate. In case we had any doubt about the identity of Jesus, the voice of God the Father makes it known in verse 22. Jesus is His beloved Son and with Him, he is well pleased. The Heavens open, and the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus, embodied like a dove. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the mission and ministry of Jesus is then set to begin. So, what do we make of all this? What does it mean for us on this festival Sunday as we commemorate the Baptism of Our Lord? It’s a great time to reflect on our own baptism and what it means for our own identity and our own mission and ministry as beloved children of God. Amen.
